Weigh in Day 12/7/12 +.6 lbs 45.4lbs down 44.6lbs to go

Aaaarrrrggggg, I don’t even know what I did wrong this week and yet I gained weight.  I stayed within my calories each day and got in great workouts all week-long.

I have spent the weekend trying to figure out how to change it up and stay motivated, which was hard given that we were in Breckenridge for my birthday celebration where we drank a lot and ate pretty recklessly, in between hot tubbing.   This is admittedly the hardest time of every year for me to stay on track, but I need to figure it out…..  ugh

This week I am going to focus just on not gaining any more weight back and try to do more strength training as I tend to do mostly cardio.

That and repeating this mantra, “do not give up, do not give up, do not give up”

Wish me luck.

  1. It’s a good mantra. I always use “slow and steady wins the race, slow and steady wins the race” when I’m trudging up seemingly endless hills, and it seems to work too. Hang in there – I’m so impressed with what you are doing!

  2. Here’s another one for you: For every success a thousand failures forgotten lie but for every failure to try a thousand successes prematurely die.

Keep on going. Just think how much better your life is now, even if you have temporarily stagnated on weight loss. It might even be muscle gain from hiking all those hills 🙂

  3. I agree with Andrew, above. Muscle weighs more and with all the hiking you’re doing, maybe that’s it. Instead of only weight, I go by the fit of my clothes. I really dislike the feel of too-tight jeans, which really makes me think about that next bite. Tough time of year, tho’.

  4. This is a journey. There will be lots of ups and downs. Stick with it and in the long run you’ll figure it out. You’ll make lots of refinements over time. For example, I decided to pay less attention to my daily weight and pay more attention to my 7 day average. It’s not unusual for things to play out over a couple days. That helped me. You will find the things that help you as long as you stick to it. You’ve achieved a lot so far. Be inspired by your own accomplishments and know you have it in you to continue your journey. Over 45 pounds lost is a big deal!

    1. Kyle you are so right I need to focus on the good. All the great support over the past 2 days has really helped motivate me to stay on track! Thank you so much!!!

  5. You’re in the trifecta of tough times for food decisions – cold weather, short days, and lots of holiday celebrations. The fact that you’re not sitting down with a bowl of mashed potatoes and saying “see you all in the spring” is amazing and inspiring to me. Don’t let one week get to you -it pales in comparison to all you’ve accomplished!

    1. mmmmm bowl of potatoes….. No you are so right, I need to focus on the positive and celebrate each little success. Thank you so much for your encouragement…I cannot tell you how much it helps me!

  6. .6 lbs?! Don’t “sweat it” (no pun intended). My weight can vary by 3 lbs a DAY. Everyone here has given you great suggestions and feedback, so I can’t add anything new other than to say you are doing great.
