Weigh in 1/31/14 +.8 lbs: 52.8lbs lost 37.2 left to go

3 Feb

Yep I gained weight and I am so not surprised…. I mean I ate amazing food, a lot of it,  then drank lots of alcohol and had a great time in Seattle last weekend!  The damage was much worse when I stepped on the scale upon my return so I am thrilled with this modest gain after a good 5 days of working hard.

The other strange twist to this gain, how much I craved sweet food after giving up Diet Coke.  I mean I like something sweet occasionally but without a doubt, I am a salty girl.  Give me chips over chocolate any day, but the first 2 weeks of no diet coke and all I could shove in mouth was sweet stuff in frightening quantities.  I am over it now, but that is a side effect of giving up diet coke no one ever mentioned.  I am resoundingly diet coke free though.  I even passed the tough yummy-breakfast-out-at-my-favorite- breakfast place-and-it-only-tastes-perfect-with diet coke-test and had water with my pancakes.  It still tasted good….  For the record I totally miss diet coke and want it with every meal, but the headaches are gone along with the bizarre sweet cravings.

I am just trying to stay positive and hope this next week is a better one!

On a different note, I am just 5 days away from my guided snow shoe and am so excited!!! The mountains have been getting hammered with snow, like feet(s) of it so it should be the perfect way to learn!

Along that line, I started out my morning workout today with my backpack on in hopes I can carry my own camera and tripod on the snowshoe, along with my water, extra gear and food.  Aaron suggested it as he found a lot of success in getting used to more weight in his that way.  I sweated way more than I usually do with that bad boy on, but it wasn’t too bad.  I cannot see today how I will get to carrying 40lbs in it by summer but I am sure I will!

Get out there and hike!

Soda/pop for breakfast is a decidedly American thing. I had never heard of that until the 90’s when I worked with folks in the US, and I’d hear them popping open cans while on conference calls at 9am. I thought (and still think) it’s the weirdest thing to drink something carbonated early in the day. 🙂

That said, I don’t like carbonated beverages any time of day. 🙂

You did your body something very, very good by giving up all the nasty chemicals in Diet Coke. You should be proud.

Ha! Diet coke was the first thing I had every morning when I woke up… I miss it! But I am committed to not drinking it any more! Thanks for the encouragement!

I did my first guided snowshoe hike on Sunday. and LOVED it!! Black Canyon of the Gunnison has guided snowshoe hikes every Saturday and Sunday including snowshoes. All for free but a reservation is required.

Can’t wait to see your guided snow shoe report. I have never walked in real snow, it will be interesting to hear how it compares to regular walking 🙂

I am so looking forward to it! And the mountains have received like 7 feet of snow in the last mont… 3 of those in the past week! Should be perfect!
